What is The Exchange? 

The Exchange is a program designed to teach about negotiation, bartering and garnering sales skills through hands on learning opportunities.

Pairs will participate over the course of two months to trade a $10 gift card to the highest valuable good possible. A winning team will be selected through a final pitch competition to win a lunch with Michael Rossi, President of Adidas Canada, Suzanne Trusdale, Vice President of Small Business Solutions at Telus, and an exclusive lunch with an IBM executive. Finalists will also be fast tracked for an internship opportunity with IBM.

Michael Rossi
President, Adidas Group Canada

Based in Woodbridge, Michael oversees Canadian operations for adidas, Reebok and shared services for TaylorMade adidas Golf in his role as president of adidas Group Canada. Since being selected as President in 2014, Michael has played an instrumental role in securing the recent seven-year NHL partnership with adidas, as well as the Michael was previously the Vice President of Reebok in Canada, during which time he successfully built the brand’s fitness positioning through partnerships with the CFL and GoodLife Fitness. Prior to joining Reebok, Michael also worked in Marketing at Nestle Canada, with responsibilities on leading confectionery brands such as Kit Kat and Smarties. He started his career at NHL Enterprises Canada, where he worked with key Canadian licensing partners of the NHL.

Michael graduated with an Honours in Business Administration from Western’s Ivey Business School in London, Ontario, serving as Valedictorian for his graduating class. Identified as an emerging talent in the sports industry, Michael was recognized this year as one of George Brown College’s “5 to Watch” in Canadian sports, as well as by Sporting Goods Business as one of North America’s ‘Top 40 Under 40’


Suzanne Trusdale
Vice President of Small Business Solutions, Telus Business Solutions

With a career spanning more than 20 years at TELUS, Suzanne Trusdale currently leads the company’s Small Business Solutions team. With a focus on putting customers first, she supports more than 230 team members across Canada, Europe, and the Philippines. She’s known for her ability to inspire high performance and spirited teamwork, rallying her team behind the vision of “One team, one goal.”

Suzanne is deeply rooted in small business culture and passionate about helping Canadian entrepreneurs succeed. Prior to joining TELUS, she was a small business owner with a successful restaurant and catering company in Ontario. Today, leading TELUS’ Small Business team and her involvement as a judge in the $100K Small Business Challenge are just some of the ways she helps bolster the Canadian small business community.

Suzanne has an ongoing commitment to give back to the community and embodies TELUS’ philosophy of “We give where we live.” She’s currently a dedicated member of the Toronto TELUS Community Board and is actively involved with the Princess Margaret One Walk, Free the Children, along with several other non-for-profits in Ontario. She received the TELUS CHLOE (Connections Honours Leaders of Excellence) Award for Leadership Excellence, and currently mentors six high-potential leaders across the country.

1. Participants must be current Ryerson students.

2. Participants will commit to purchasing a $10 gift card once the program begins.

3. Participants must track their trading through short weekly blog posts.

4. Participants must attend the MANDATORY orientation and workshop on October 1, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

5. Participants will not be allowed to trade for cash. Trading will only count for other items.

6. The winner will be chosen by the judges during the final pitch on November 24, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
